In this section the data is collecting about those soldiers, which had been found by us and which names were recovered.
Unfortunately, during the Winter War 1939-1940 Soviet soldiers had had only ID tags M-25. It was a small tin box, inside which was a piece of paper with name, rank and home address of a soldier. So time could easily destroy such ID tag.
In March 1941 Red Army soldiers received new plastic (rarely metal or wooden) boxes also with a piece of paper inside. This kind of ID tags preserves the paper better. But in November 1942 the production of ID tags in USSR was stopped, soldiers weren't oblidged to have these tags. Also these items had a reputation of ominous tokens of death, so many soldiers threw them away. So the only one document at post-1942 Sovier soldier was a paper - something like a pass of an Red Army man. So it is very difficult to recover the names of Soviet soldiers which fell in 1944 when again great battles were in Karelia. So it is possible to find a soldier with preserved ID tag only in battlefields of 1941, or finding the small number of soldiers killed during 1942 or 1943 (not all the soldiers immediately threw away their tags in November 1942).
In Finnish Army every soldier had an aluminium ID tag with 6 digits, his number. It is easy to recover the name of the soldier by this number. But sometimes Soviet units which collected captured materials had taken these ID tags with all the documents of Finnish soldier. And evidently these tags also could be lost on paths of war. So not all the names of Finnish soldiers could be recovered.
