Some additional information about Setti Manninen

This information was translated from the book "Kuuterselkäkin murtui" of Niilo Lappalainen, ISBN 951-0-18520-5, published by WSOY at 1993.

"Kuuterselkäkin murtui" is based on war diaries of II Battalion, 5.-7./JR 53 etc., a couple of other books and researches and interviews, so it is very reliable.

(pages 78-79) : "Medical under sergeant Heikki Luukkanen from 6./JR 53 became POW in 14.6.1944 (and was interviewed by Lappalainen for this book). He went from potato cellar behind the line, which was for the wounded soldiers, into the battle line and was badly wounded. Private Setti Manninen came and said: A bullet has gone trough your head. Manninen took him on his shoulder and transposed him into the potato cellar. The Russians came while closer and the Finns run away. Manninen fell soon after that."
